I’m kinda a bad friend. It’s my friend’s birhday, a friend who I haven’t seen in three years, and I’m supposed to go out with him and some others tonight.
I’m highly considering calling him and saying I’m sick cause really I just wanna play Guild Wars 2 all night.
i mean don’t you think it’s interesting that white feminists are PISSING THEMSELVES over the (barely noticeable) merida redesign and starting petitions and emailing disney and kicking up this huge fucking fuss
but when it came to pocahontas’ outfit becoming even MORE inaccurate and racist and mulan getting the shit whitewashed out of her and turned into a ~*~delicate oriental pearl~*~ instead of a warrior it was like “yeah that’s bad, also the glitter is tacky. gee whiz”
To be fair, those movies came out before people started taking internet petitions seriously…
the redesigns in question came out only a few months before the merida redesign
I’m actually p sure there were petitions? I know there was also enough emails and complaints sent into Disney that they re-re-designed Mulan so her eyes weren’t blue, she wasn’t so pale, and she wasn’t as tiny. I think Pocahontas also got a re-re-design, but it still was p bad.
I’ll see if I can find petition links if they’re still up
Hey PK, if you get bored, you should try this. I got a 7.0, My complementarity colors weren’t up to snuff, and my triad’s were just horrid.
HERE’S PENGO’S SCORE
7.2 Tetradic killed me v.v
I’m getting over my shame and internalized ableism and asking for help. I’m a chronically ill unemployed trans gurl who just left sex work (as in, yesterday) because I finally lost my shit. I’m also moving out of my abusive household in June, around the 15th or so. I don’t have a place to stay yet so the more money I have saved up, the more likely someone is going to trust me to move in with them.
Thanks to sex work and friends donating, I’ve saved up $2,000 for deposits, first/last month’s rent, housing applications, etc. I’m trying to raise another $2,000 to get me through the summer. Starting September/October, I should be receiving financial aid from my university, so that will help.
To give you an idea of where the money is going:
- Rent for a shared room is $500-$550/month
- Utilities are anywhere between $20-$60/month
- I’m limiting myself to $100-$125/month for food
- Gas is $40 a full tank, so about a $80/month if I do this right
I’ll also be looking for a job at this time. I have an open interview tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get called for a second interview!
Important to note! My memoir, Trauma Queen, is aiming to be published on May 31st, 2013. It’s going to cost $20, so if you want to hold off donating to buy the book, that’s totally understandable. I have a collection of writing and art here (x) that you can read/watch, and a zine here (x). I’ll also be selling various articles of clothing, shoes, collector’s items, etc. in the next week or so.
Signal boosting would be appreciated, and any donations would be very helpful. <3
¡Gracias! / Thank you!,
P.S. (if the link doesn’t work, there’s a donate button on my page.)
If you have anything to spare, please help them out? I’ve followed their tumblr for a long time and they are absolutely wonderful, hardworking, and a huge inspiration. They’ve helped me take a lot of steps I’ve needed to accept myself and my humanness. The book is going to be amazing, I’m sure! I’m super excited for it!
Mayor Michael Nutter says he hopes Philadelphia can be “the most LGBT-friendly” city in the world.
Earlier this month, Nutter signed legislation that makes Philadelphia the first city in the United States to offer tax credits to companies that extend the same health care coverage to LGBT employees’ domestic partners and their children as they provide to heterosexual spouses and their children.
In addition to the business tax incentives, which were backed by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce as well as LGBT civil rights groups, the legislation:
• Requires gender-neutral bathrooms in newly constructed city-owned buildings.
• Revises Philadelphia’s anti-discrimination law to include transgender people.
• Extends decision-making rights to life partners on medical and other issues.
• Changes city forms and websites to offer options for same-sex couples and transgender people.
Excuse me while I pack my bags
